Press Release: First Annual Barn Burner BBQ 2015 Competition Arrives in Canada

Fun, Fire, Wood and BBQ at its finest

“This event will unite BBQ enthusiasts from all across North America who join the quest for ultimate finger-licking barbeque,” says competition organizer Angie Quaale, owner of Well Seasoned and the host of the decade-old annual BBQ Off The Bypass competition. “There is no doubt in my mind,” she continues, “that the first Canadian Barn Burner championship will be a smoking hot event and one to remember.”

With the growing popularity of BBQ competitions across North America, Johnston’s Pork & Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry proudly kick off the 2015 BBQ season with the inaugural Barn Burner BBQ Competition, March 22 from 11 am – 5 pm at the Farm Store (4540 Simmons Road, Chilliwack).

This fully-sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) BBQ competition is expected to attract barbeque fans from throughout the Fraser Valley, as they gather to taste BBQ samples, soak up the entertainment, enjoy live demonstrations, visit tasty vendors, and be part of a fun, local, and sizzling event.

The first Barn Burner BBQ Competition promises to be Chilliwack’s tastiest community event, as dedicated and creative chef teams come together from across North America to showcase their masterful BBQ skills.

The competition will witness the battle of BBQs in four main categories including Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Ribs. The winning team with the highest total points in all four categories will take home their share of $5000 in prize money along with the first Barn Burner BBQ Grand Championship trophy and bragging rights.

Teams will also compete in a BBQ “Black Box” cook-off. This “Iron Chef” style competition gives these BBQ competitors a chance to show off their more creative side. They will each be presented with a black box with four mystery ingredients. Those ingredients must be incorporated into a single dish and submitted to the judges. Judges will award points based on originality, taste and presentation. It is sure to be a very tasty battle.

The First Annual Barn Burner BBQ competition brings together fiercely competitive BBQ Pitmasters from all over the Pacific Northwest, Alberta and Saskatchewan. They will gather in Chilliwack to showcase their BBQ skills and compete for the ultimate prize- the Grand Championship of the Barn Burner BBQ. This local event is fully sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society and expects to attract thousands of BBQ lovers from the Lower Mainland.
